Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multidisciplinary teams to establish scope and interfaces for coordinated delivery.
  • •Direct technical delivery of substation design projects, aligning approach with engineering teams and quality-checking deliverables before client issue.
  • •Apply lifecycle expertise from grid connection studies and concept through FEED and detailed design to deliver HV substation schemes meeting requirements.
  • •Liaise with project management teams on resourcing forecasts and programmes aligned to construction schedules and critical path milestones.
  • •Mentor and develop junior engineers while championing safety in design principles and ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector, including client experience with UK or Ireland transmission utilities/developers (e.g., National Grid, SHET, SSE, SPT).
  • •Proven experience delivering HV infrastructure design at concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
  • •Strong understanding of electrical AC HV plant and equipment (AIS and GIS), including switchgear, busbars, cabling, and earthing with civil interfaces.
  • •Working knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications.
  • •Proposal and bid development experience, including leading multi-discipline submissions for data centre, HV infrastructure, or grid connection projects.
