Job Summary

Lead technical delivery of real-time flood forecasting projects within the Water team, guiding junior staff and collaborating with clients to apply and calibrate hydrological models (Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS). Work across concept to completion on projects for the Environment Agency and other clients, combining data analysis, reports, and tender activity in a hybrid UK role.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and deliver real-time flood forecasting projects, mentoring team members and building client relationships.
•Develop, calibrate, and validate flood forecasting models (e.g. Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS) and perform hydrological analyses using FEH methods.
•Produce and review technical reports documenting model builds and uncertainties while ensuring quality and timeliness.
•Support tender preparation and contribute to client proposals.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across disciplines to ensure compliance with legislation and guidelines.

Key Requirements

•Significant experience in flood forecasting modelling (Flood Modeller).
•Strong knowledge of Environment Agency requirements, including preparing flood forecasting models compatible with their Incident Management Forecasting Systems.
•Proven ability in applying and calibrating hydrological models in flood forecasting (e.g. Muskingum-Cunge, Probability Distribution Model).
•Excellent analytical skills, with experience in processing and analysing hydrometric data, including gauge rating reviews.
•A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
