Key Responsibilities

  • •Support project accounting activities for Xcel Energy-related projects and programs, monitoring budgets, analyzing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with billing and reporting requirements.
  • •Manage and analyze collection, recording, and allocation of project costs and revenue to ensure accurate profit and loss reporting.
  • •Perform lifecycle project accounting in Oracle, including project account creation, budget tracking, invoicing validation, project close-out, and reconciliation of payables/receivables to budgets.
  • •Handle detailed accounting tasks for medium-sized and moderately complex projects, including managing contract and billing events and revenue/billing exceptions.
  • •Generate project accounting reports, evaluate items for escalation, authorize access and expense transfers, and coordinate with billing, project teams, Contract Administrators, Accounts Payable, and subcontractors to support invoicing and payments.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely-related discipline (or equivalent proven experience).
  • •3 to 5 years of post-education experience in accounting, project contracts, and change management documents.
  • •Working knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods for project-related issues.
  • •Strong analytical mindset with independent judgment for situations involving financial implications.
  • •Proficiency with MS Excel and accounting software, including spreadsheets (pivot tables, formulas) and tools such as VLOOKUP and data sort/filter functions.
