Job Summary

Architect and ship the test automation platform and quality engineering practice for AI-powered scientific and lab automation products. Own the test automation system, CI/CD test infrastructure, AI-driven test tooling, and the eval discipline across the SDLC. Build and lead a small team, set quality standards and SLOs, modernize CI/CD for fast signal, and stand up a lab automation QC framework grounded in data integrity and ALCOA+ compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and build the test automation platform (frameworks, fixtures, golden datasets, orchestration, and reporting) adopted across engineering by default.
•Own CI/CD test-execution modernization including parallelization, caching, hermetic and ephemeral environments, affected-only selection, retry/quarantine, and impact analysis.
•Drive AI-driven test automation by applying LLMs across the test lifecycle and validating AI-generated tests with evals to protect signal quality.
•Define and operate quality metrics and SLOs, build dashboards for visibility from PR to executive review, and apply Google SRE practices to guide investment.
•Stand up the lab automation QC framework with ALCOA+ data integrity principles and lead a 3–5 person team to scale quality through standards and tooling.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 260,000 - 390,000 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading test automation, quality engineering, or platform/SRE-adjacent functions.
•3+ years managing engineers, including building or scaling a team.
•Strong software architect/engineer with hands-on Python and/or TypeScript experience (highly desirable).
•Deep CI/CD expertise across orchestration, parallelization/caching, hermetic environments, ephemeral preview envs, flake quarantine, and test impact analysis.
•Demonstrated build-vs-buy judgment and hands-on AI-driven test automation with rigorous eval validation.
