Job Summary

Ensure submarines meet stealth performance targets through noise and vibration measurements across the full lifecycle, from prototype testing to in-service support. Work with internal and external stakeholders to analyze noise/vibration data, influence design decisions, and drive continuous improvement. Conduct diagnostics and condition monitoring, solve technical challenges, and mentor junior engineers. Support programme delivery on a complex UK defence engineering platform.

Key Responsibilities

•Carry out noise and vibration measurements (structure borne, airborne, fluid borne) throughout the submarine lifecycle.
•Provide relevant noise and vibration data to influence and guide design decisions with internal and external stakeholders.
•Support developing junior engineers within the team.
•Perform equipment condition-based monitoring and diagnostics assessments.
•Identify technical challenges and improvement opportunities, confidently challenge traditional approaches, and adapt to a dynamic environment.

Key Requirements

•Hold a STEM degree in science, technology, engineering, or maths.
•Proven multi-year experience in noise and vibration measurement/analysis and reporting.
•Proficiency in at least one acquisition software (e.g., Siemens LMS, HBK Connect) and experience with Pulse/labshop (or previous versions).
•Ability to discuss technical findings with stakeholders from varied technical backgrounds.
•Meet Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with many roles subject to additional national security vetting).
