Key Responsibilities

  • •Support the Head of Compliance in managing the function, people, and annual plan, deputising at management and committee meetings.
  • •Provide commercially aware regulatory advice to Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Risk teams across EU/Maltese requirements including MiCA and payment services.
  • •Maintain a risk-based compliance framework and conduct compliance reviews across customer journeys, disclosures, complaints, conflicts of interest, safeguarding, outsourcing, and operational resilience.
  • •Run the Compliance Monitoring Programme (thematic reviews, control testing), manage risk assessments, escalate breaches, and drive remediation.
  • •Assist with regulator relations (MFSA and others), coordinate supervisory meetings and information requests, and prepare reporting for senior management, Boards, and committees.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of regulatory compliance experience in financial services, payments, fintech, or crypto-assets, including a senior role.
  • •Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.
  • •Deep working knowledge of MiCA and EU payment-services regulation for crypto-asset service providers.
  • •Practical experience designing and operating compliance frameworks, monitoring programmes, and risk assessments, including regulatory change and tech-led product development advice.
  • •Demonstrated regulator engagement and the professional standing to satisfy fitness and propriety expectations and obtain necessary approvals.
