Job Summary

Analyze sponsor finance and related credit opportunities by modeling financial data, underwriting sponsor finance LBOs, recapitalizations, and refinance opportunities. Assign and defend risk ratings, review quality of earnings and exception reports, and produce monthly portfolio reviews and reporting. Partner with relationship managers on complex credits, deliver covenant and financial recommendations, and prepare credit committee materials. This hybrid role supports Chicago-Wacker onsite work and includes travel about every other week.

Key Responsibilities

•Model and analyze financial information with sponsor finance relationship managers and loan/collateral operations, completing most assignments independently.
•Underwrite and analyze funded private equity firms, independent sponsors, wealthy family offices, and mezzanine providers.
•Analyze and rate existing and prospective credits, including monthly portfolio reviews, portfolio reporting, and 5-year borrower projections (base case and downside).
•Prepare, review, and work on monthly exception reports and defend risk ratings.
•Partner on complex credits with relationship managers and collaborate on customer loan presentations, credit committee materials, and special projects like annual budgeting and industry research.

Travel: Medium travel

Salary: USD 87,500 - 128,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business (or related) and 3+ years of related experience in commercial banking, finance, or credit (AVP level); or 5+ years (VP level).
•Strong understanding of cash flow lending, including analyzing debt service, leverage, and balance sheet, plus borrower enterprise value.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), PDF, pricing models, Pitchbook, and GF Data (including learning Solifi/Stucky systems).
•General banking (credit/debit) knowledge, including competency with bank treasury systems and products.
•Excellent verbal/written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and time management in a fast-paced environment.
