Job Summary

Lead mechanical design delivery by collaborating with Dyson internal teams and JDM partners to ensure timely, high-quality product integration. You’ll drive requirements management, design and issue reviews, build and test evaluations, and design maturity assessments. Manage scope changes, approve parts and deviations, and use your systems engineering, risk management, and manufacturing expertise (e.g., injection molding, stamping, die-casting) to develop robust, manufacturable solutions. Based in Shenzhen with partner engagement.

Key Responsibilities

•Promote requirement management practices; create design requirements and ensure JDM interprets and implements requirements during development.
•Collaborate with Dyson and JDM to identify dependencies, risks, mitigation strategies, and align activities to meet design and project goals; monitor and report progress.
•Oversee mechanical design solutions from JDM teams, including integration of electrical parts; drive design reviews and issue management while meeting Dyson quality standards.
•Evaluate build and test outcomes: assess build effectiveness/efficiency and provide guidance for test planning, execution, documentation, and reporting.
•Assess design maturity (performance, robustness, manufacturability, residual risks) and review/approve change requests, part approvals, and deviations; engage JDM on design/manufacturing capabilities and support RFI/RFP/SOW development.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
•Strong understanding of product development methodology, including scoping work and decomposing complex problems into manageable tasks.
•Knowledge and application of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, and Risk Management in product development.
•Track record developing robust engineering solutions from concept to market launch, including manufacturing and assembly techniques (plastic injection molding, metal stamping, die-casting, rubber parts) and working knowledge of motor and pump.
•Practical knowledge of 3D CAD, PLM systems, and analysis packages, plus cost estimation for design options and selecting cost-effective directions.
