Key Responsibilities

  • •Initiate and drive applied science initiatives to completion, focusing on improving trust and safety for the Thumbtack platform.
  • •Architect and deploy machine learning systems to production to enhance spam and fraud detection, policy enforcement, and platform security.
  • •Design and execute experiments to evaluate new models and strategies that reduce spam exposure, detect abuse, and improve lead quality.
  • •Analyze structured and unstructured data across observational and experimental settings.
  • •Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to define problems, develop solutions, and ensure ML models are implemented and monitored.

Key Requirements

  • •Expertise in machine learning techniques, including classification, anomaly detection, and natural language processing (NLP).
  • •Ability to read, write, and debug code in programming languages such as Python.
  • •Strong knowledge of probability and statistics, including experimental design, optimization, and causal inference.
  • •Demonstrated ability to create and drive technical and impactful roadmaps, leading seamless execution.
  • •Ability to break down complex problems and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners of varying technical levels.
