Key Responsibilities

•Initiate and drive applied science initiatives to completion, focusing on improving trust and safety for the Thumbtack platform.
•Architect and deploy machine learning systems to production to enhance spam and fraud detection, policy enforcement, and platform security.
•Design and execute experiments to evaluate new models and strategies that reduce spam exposure, detect abuse, and improve lead quality.
•Analyze structured and unstructured data across observational and experimental settings.
•Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to define problems, develop solutions, and ensure ML models are implemented and monitored.

Key Requirements

•Expertise in machine learning techniques, including classification, anomaly detection, and natural language processing (NLP).
•Ability to read, write, and debug code in programming languages such as Python.
•Strong knowledge of probability and statistics, including experimental design, optimization, and causal inference.
•Demonstrated ability to create and drive technical and impactful roadmaps, leading seamless execution.
•Ability to break down complex problems and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners of varying technical levels.
