Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as senior legal advisor to the Single-Family business across the residential mortgage lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, pricing, acquisition, servicing, asset management, and secondary market execution.
  • •Advise on legal, regulatory, and policy matters affecting the Single-Family business while balancing business objectives with compliance and enterprise risk considerations.
  • •Lead, develop, and mentor a legal organization responsible for supporting one of the nation’s largest residential mortgage businesses.
  • •Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Technology, Operations, and Enterprise Security to identify and mitigate legal and operational risks and enable innovation.
  • •Provide strategic counsel on applying artificial intelligence throughout the Single-Family mortgage lifecycle while navigating the regulatory landscape and maintaining compliance.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 400,000 - 450,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •15+ years of legal experience, including senior in-house legal experience in a regulated financial services environment such as a bank, non-bank mortgage loan servicer, or mortgage finance company.
  • •Deep understanding of housing finance and mortgage banking, including applicable regulatory environments.
  • •Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring a large, high-performing legal team.
  • •Strong business judgment to balance legal, regulatory, reputational, and commercial considerations and translate complex issues into practical guidance.
  • •J.D. from an accredited law school with admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
