Job Summary

Serve as second-in-command to the Master onboard a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD), leading deck operations and dredging activities. Plan and supervise loading, overflow control, sailing, and discharge while ensuring safe and efficient operation of key dredging equipment. Monitor dredging parameters, oversee vessel stability/trim/stress, enforce safety and environmental compliance, supervise deck crew, and maintain statutory and operational records.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as second-in-command to the Master and lead overall deck operations onboard the TSHD.
•Plan, supervise, and execute dredging operations including loading, overflow control, sailing, and discharge.
•Ensure safe operation of dredging equipment (dragheads, suction pipes, hopper systems, discharge arrangements) and optimize performance by monitoring dredging parameters.
•Oversee stability, trim, and stress of the vessel during all phases of dredging and ensure compliance with stability criteria.
•Supervise deck crew and enforce safety and environmental compliance, including SMS, permit-to-work, risk assessments, emergency drills, and statutory recordkeeping.

Key Requirements

•Basic and Advanced STCW certification.
•Licensed as Chief Officer (Unlimited).
•5 years rank experience on a dredger.
•Ability to oversee stability, trim, and stress of the vessel during dredging operations.
•Knowledge of international maritime regulations including SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW.
