Job Summary

Oversee maintenance operations across care homes in the South East, leading on-site maintenance teams to keep building fabric, services and grounds safe and compliant. Manage budgets, health and safety checks, and quarterly audits while coordinating with Home Managers and Regional Directors. Field-based role with travel to sites across Kent, Essex and London; strong leadership and contractor management are essential.

Key Responsibilities

•Ensure that the external and internal building and grounds are maintained to a safe and acceptable standard of repair, carrying out any works with the minimum disturbance to occupants and visitors
•Ensure that all maintenance and repair tasks within the care homes are completed to a high standard, in a timely manner and offer value for money
•Contribute to the expenditure of the annual care homes maintenance budget
•Ensure that all health and safety and compliance checks are carried out as per the timescales directed by Bupa Standard Operating Procedures and by Bupa compliance management tools and software
•Line manage our care home-based Maintenance Operatives/Gardeners across the allocated portfolio, including inductions and 1-2-1s, training and budget management

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 53,622 annually

Key Requirements

•A full driving licence is essential for this role.
•You hold a building/electrical/plumbing qualification or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a property maintenance or general repairs role. It is beneficial that you hold either a current blue CSCS card for a ‘skilled worker’ or current gold CSCS card for a ‘supervisor’.
•Previous experience of remotely managing a team is essential and some experience managing consultants, contractors and contracted suppliers is preferred.
•Experience in managing Health and Safety matters relating to construction and general maintenance (completing permit to work, writing and assessing risk assessments and method statements)
