Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead microbiology and fermentation technology development by designing and executing research projects.
  • •Diagnose microbial, process, and equipment deviations in culture production and partner to resolve root causes.
  • •Conduct bench microbiology and small-scale fermentation runs to model and optimize process conditions.
  • •Translate bench results to pilot scale through experiment design, documentation, and technical reporting.
  • •Independently lead internal research projects and external collaborations from concept through commercialization, including business-case development.

Key Requirements

  • •B.S. degree in Microbiology, Food Science and Technology, Fermentation Sciences, or related fields; M.S. or PhD preferred.
  • •4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s (or 3 years with a Master’s, or 2 years with a PhD).
  • •Strong working knowledge of lactic acid bacteria, acetic acid bacteria, and microbial physiology for food fermentation.
  • •Experience with bench-scale fermenter systems; INFORS or Eppendorf DASGIP experience preferred.
  • •Proficiency in plating, enumeration, strain isolation/verification, and data analysis using experimental design (Design of Experiments).
