Lead indirect tax compliance and reporting for UK and Isle of Man entities, driving robust VAT processes, risk management, and improvements across a highly regulated environment. Partner closely with UK and Isle of Man Finance teams and maintain strong relationships with HMRC across queries, reviews, and audits.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage a team of four experienced tax professionals.
•Oversee preparation, review, and submission of UK VAT returns for Zurich in the UK and Isle of Man.
•Ensure correct application of partial exemption and input tax recovery methods, including VAT registration/de-registration, group VAT issues, and option to tax matters.
•Oversee preparation, calculation, and filing of UK IPT returns and Foreign Premium Tax returns, including reconciliation of control accounts to source systems.
•Maintain relationships with HMRC, contribute to SAO and Uncertain Tax Treatment reporting, and develop governance processes and process improvements.

•Significant UK VAT compliance experience, including partial exemption special methods, VAT grouping/branches, and cross-border VAT considerations.

•Strong communication skills to explain complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders and partner with stakeholders including external advisors and HMRC.
•5 years ACA/ACCA/CTA post-qualification experience.
