Job Summary

Build and evolve an internal investment function for a biotech/biohealth initiative, including investment processes and theses. Source, diligence, and execute equity and grant opportunities focused on broad-spectrum preventatives, translating scientific and technical findings into capital deployment decisions. Own projects end-to-end, develop technology viewpoints, maintain a CRM of portfolio work, and support portfolio management to accelerate product timelines while mapping scientific and regulatory bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities

•Expand the pipeline by engaging networks to source new ideas and technologies, manage referral channels, and screen investment and grant opportunities.
•Own opportunities through technical diligence and transaction execution, coordinating with legal and diligence consultants and driving internal approval processes.
•Develop points of view on technologies and publish POVs for the most promising approaches, including identifying gating datapoints to decide whether to advance or double down.
•Build and maintain the CRM to ensure key projects are captured and new opportunities are identified early.
•Provide portfolio management support to remove bottlenecks and accelerate timelines, and map demand-side bottlenecks across regulatory, clinical, recommendations, reimbursement, and adoption.

Key Requirements

•MD/PhD in immunology or infectious disease with 2+ years of investing, BD/partnering, or grantmaking experience, or minimum 5 years biotech investor experience in immunology or infectious disease at a VC fund.
•Experience with portfolio management, including portfolio construction and post-award management.
•Ability to translate scientific diligence into strategic investment recommendations and a coherent capital deployment view.
•Product development experience (and/or broad exposure via investing in or supporting companies).
•Experience with project management from launch to completion (project quarterback) with openness to hands-on work.
