Job Summary

Provide technical leadership for civil engineering and highway design projects from WSP’s Manchester office, delivering right-quality outcomes on time and within budget. Lead design teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage multi-disciplinary inputs while acting as Project Manager on reviews. Own commercial aspects (fees and project position), lead technical challenge, support tenders/bids, and develop client relationships to help grow the Development team.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical leadership for civil engineering and highway design projects in the UK and overseas.
•Lead and mentor design teams, including supervision and development of junior members.
•Act as Project Manager, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and undertaking project reviews to optimise solutions.
•Manage project resources and people within the local team, and lead a culture of technical review and challenge.
•Lead commercial aspects (fees and position) and contribute to tenders/bids while developing client relationships.

Key Requirements

•MEng/BEng/BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification with experience managing development projects.
•Chartered or Incorporated professional qualification with a relevant professional body (desirable).
•Broad highways-focused civil engineering project experience, including multi-disciplinary work.
•Working knowledge of industry standards such as DMRB, Specification for Highway Works, Local Authority highway design guidelines, and Manual for Streets.
•AutoCAD and/or Civils 3D experience, with capability for 2D drawing and 3D modelling (plus ability to obtain UK vetting Security Check (SC), preferably).
