Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead bridge design and management activities for UK and overseas projects, ensuring quality, time and budget targets.
  • •Perform feasibility studies, options appraisals, and prepare reports, drawings and health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and outlines cost estimates.
  • •Prepare fee estimates and supervise junior team members and CAD technicians.
  • •Provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams and actively participate in development of the bridges team.
  • •Mentor and guide junior staff, coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring project deliverables are met.

Key Requirements

  • •Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with practical bridge design, maintenance and assessment experience
  • •Proven project management experience of bridge projects and ability to mentor junior team members
  • •Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to structural schemes; understanding of Eurocodes
  • •Experience with design/assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures and familiarity with LUSAS, Superstress and SAM for finite element analysis
  • •Experience in preparation of documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs/drawings, and fee estimates; ability to supervise CAD technicians
