Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead technical support for overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects.
  • •Undertake design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag-tension calculations, and clearance reporting.
  • •Perform feasibility studies, including conductor thermal ratings, and support compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • •Write proposals and originate/check engineering deliverables such as designs, reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages.
  • •Mentor and drive technical development within the wider team through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and quality checks.

Key Requirements

  • •Professionally qualified CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g., the IET).
  • •A bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent technical discipline (electrical engineering or power engineering).
  • •Experience delivering transmission system operator projects for organisations such as National Grid, SSE, and SPT, following each operator’s standards.
  • •Project experience in overhead line engineering (ideally up to 400kV).
  • •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
