Claims Consultant with deep expertise in environmental liability and long-tail policies, handling asbestos, toxic tort, sexual molestation and environmental claims. Manages the full claim lifecycle from notice to closure, negotiates complex settlements, analyzes reserves, and collaborates with Legal, Actuarial, Finance and Underwriting to drive fair resolutions for high-severity, multi-party losses within Nationwide’s ECU.

Key Responsibilities

•Investigate and resolve coverage under long-tail policies, maximizing cost sharing, apportionment and other risk transfer opportunities.
•Conduct thorough liability investigations, identifying critical issues influencing claim outcomes and severity.
•Communicate claim evaluations through narratives and presentations to stakeholders and senior leaders.
•Cultivate relationships with insureds and defense counsel, employing effective litigation management tactics.
•Provide reserve analysis to ensure timely, accurate case reserves and manage high-value, volatile risks.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 108,000 - 200,000 annually

Key Requirements

•8+ years of asbestos, environmental or complex claims experience.
•Undergraduate degree in insurance, legal, business, or management; advanced degree/coursework preferred.
•Licenses/certifications desirable (CPCU, CLU, IIA, AEI, etc.).
•Strong knowledge of insurance contracts and regulatory issues related to environmental and specialty claims.
•Proven ability to lead and train others in specialty claims review and to manage multiple assignments.
