Job Summary

Ensure the safety and security of detainees at the Port Isabel Detention Center by supervising detainees within the facility perimeter and maintaining order and discipline. Conduct security and sanitation checks, manage equipment and radio readiness, and complete accurate post logbook entries. Provide care, custody, and control, including restraint-based removal from holding areas, and support transport and hearings as assigned while following safety and detention standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct security and sanitation checks before relieving the outgoing officer and throughout the shift.
•Ensure supervision, safety, and security of detainees; maintain order and discipline and enforce facility rules and regulations.
•Inventory and receive authorized equipment, ensure radio readiness, and maintain accurate post logbook entries.
•Provide care, custody, and control of detainees, including removing detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures.
•Supervise detainees during deportation or exclusion hearings, transport, medical care, and other duties as assigned while completing defensive tactics and other training.

Key Requirements

•Be a citizen of the United States.
•Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and be at least 18 years of age.
•Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record or poor credit history).
•Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance and pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
•Hold a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a state security guard license; read, write, and speak fluent English.
