Key Responsibilities

  • •Supervise and transport detainees in the Syracuse area to assigned locations around New York State.
  • •Exercise judgment in handling special needs situations and detainee-related circumstances.
  • •Communicate effectively and coherently with other staff or detainees using approved facility communication devices.
  • •Perform searches of detainees, vehicles, mail items, and areas for contraband, and maintain awareness of detainee location while documenting control.
  • •Escort detainees and transport them securely using approved restraints and ICE-approved vehicles; prepare investigative and other reports and maintain custody at off-site locations.

Key Requirements

  • •Must be at least 21 years of age and a US Citizen.
  • •High school diploma or GED equivalent; must have a valid driver’s license.
  • •Maintain NYS Class C CDL with passenger endorsement and be able to obtain a NYS Class C CDL.
  • •Hold a valid NYS pistol permit and NYS Armed Guard License; maintain NYS Armed Guard card with yearly qualification and security training.
  • •Must be able to pass extensive background investigation and drug test, including random drug testing.
