Job Summary

Build and maintain Mapbox’s unified C++17 navigation library that powers Navigation SDKs “on-board” across iOS, Android, and low-power automotive embedded hardware. Improve map-matching and dead-reckoning using large-scale vehicle data, implement high-frequency route-following and deviation detection, and develop predictive road-object matching with OpenLR and live traffic. Extend the Valhalla routing engine for offline routing and refresh controllers while thoughtfully leveraging AI in your workflow.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and maintain a unified C++17 navigation library across iOS, Android, and low-power automotive embedded hardware.
•Analyze and improve map-matching and dead-reckoning algorithms using real-world vehicle data.
•Implement route-following capabilities including high-frequency route progress reporting, deviation detection, and timely instruction delivery.
•Work on road object matching (OpenLR) and live traffic incidents to provide a predictive view of the road ahead.
•Integrate and extend the Valhalla routing engine for offline routing and route refresh controllers, including predictive caching for routing tiles.

Key Requirements

•Strong proficiency (min 7 years) in C++17 (or later) with deep knowledge of the language specification, memory management, standard library, and multi-threading.
•Write clean, fast, and portable code that adheres to strict CPU and memory constraints.
•Experience with complex graph-based structures, data structures, and spatial algorithms.
•Proven experience developing cross-platform code across Linux, mobile, or embedded systems.
•Strong English skills to explain complex technical trade-offs to peers and stakeholders.
