Job Summary

Operate an asphalt paver (rubber or track type) to spread and level hot/warm asphaltic concrete on roadways and related surfaces. Control the paving machine using hand/foot levers, make routine equipment adjustments (including oil/grease), and set up screed extensions and accessories as needed. Coordinate with other crewmembers and may guide dump trucks while backing into the hopper to help meet daily project schedules and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate an asphalt paver machine to spread and level asphaltic concrete on subgrade highway surfaces such as parking lots and streets.
•Manipulate hand or foot levers to control machine movement and ensure accurate paving.
•Perform basic maintenance and operating adjustments, including oiling/greasing and normal service.
•Add or remove screed extensions, install/remove automatic devices, and manage grade log or related accessories for the machine.
•Coordinate with crewmembers to meet daily schedules and may guide dump trucks while backing up to the machine hopper.

Key Requirements

•Partner with other crewmembers to pave roadways using the equipment and perform additional tasks per plan specifications as directed by the crew foreman.
•Ability to operate equipment for extended hours and under temperature extremes; normal shift is 8–12 hours.
•Perform required physical motions (climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, driving, pushing/pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, throwing, reaching).
•May use power and/or hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers, electric drills, drift pins, pneumatic tools) to complete work within specifications.
•Adhere to PPE policy and maintain courteous, professional conduct; be flexible with last-minute schedule/location and shift changes, including overtime.
