Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide human monitoring and operation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices and other traffic control devices, taking appropriate actions based on SOPs.
  • •Coordinate traffic incident management and responses for roadway concerns, including dispatching maintenance crews for snow/ice events.
  • •Maintain database entry for incidents, special events, roadway concerns, and call logs; assist with traffic data collection for system performance troubleshooting.
  • •Assist NYSDOT in identifying, troubleshooting, documenting device failures, establishing repair priorities, and issuing work orders.
  • •Answer phone inquiries, respond to roadwork/highway incident/special event information, and provide operational partners supporting data and reports, including backups/archiving and archived report generation.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma.
  • •0-2 years of experience with a TMC type facility and/or traffic management.
  • •Oral and written communication skills.
  • •Proficiency with computer/software including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases, plus ability to use digital roadway maps and knowledge of roadway elements.
  • •Ability to maintain significant schedule flexibility to ensure consistency of HVTMC operations; candidates must pass a NYSP Criminal History Background Check.
