Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the shared platform layer across systems including the Patient Care Application and critical services like AWS, vendor integrations, Postgres, Snowflake, GitHub, CI/CD, and more.
  • •Establish reusable patterns and conventions so engineers can consistently and confidently work with unfamiliar infrastructure.
  • •Design and improve cloud infrastructure for scalability, reliability, security, and developer experience.
  • •Build core application services in Ruby on Rails, including authorization/RBAC, jobs and queues, deployments, and integrations.
  • •Operate production infrastructure and troubleshoot to improve reliability and resilience of critical systems.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of software engineering experience as an individual contributor building and operating production backend systems.
  • •Deep expertise in Ruby on Rails across application and data layers, with hands-on experience building core backend services.
  • •Strong relational database skills including data modeling, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting (e.g., N+1s, indexing).
  • •Experience building and operating platform-level capabilities such as authentication/RBAC, jobs and queues, CI/CD, deployments, and integrations.
  • •A proven track record handling production engineering challenges (e.g., major Rails upgrades, database migrations, zero-downtime schema changes, backfills, dependency upgrades, security remediation).
