Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the Context roadmap in partnership with the CTO, Head of Engineering, and product leadership.
  • •Hire and develop a team of 4 to 8 engineers, including running interview loops and setting expectations.
  • •Drive technical decisions on retrieval quality and measurement, graph and memory schemas, sync architectures under partial failure, and integration framework design.
  • •Own retrieval quality as a measurable product surface using evals to catch regressions early.
  • •Ship code on the highest-leverage parts of the system and act as the engineering point of contact when integrations break or agents retrieve incorrectly.

Salary: USD 230,000 - 275,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of backend engineering experience with at least 2 years managing or tech-leading a team.
  • •Strong Python; Rust is strongly preferred.
  • •Hands-on production experience building search/retrieval systems (embeddings, vector stores, hybrid search, reranking, chunking).
  • •Experience integrating third-party APIs at scale, including OAuth, token refresh, and handling connector failures.
  • •Strong Postgres skills and experience with data synchronization correctness (incremental sync, idempotency, backfills, reconciliation).
