Job Summary

Produce exclusive infrastructure finance journalism based in Sydney, covering Australia and the Asia-Pacific market. Report breaking project finance and infrastructure deal news ahead of public announcements, and deliver both real-time updates and deeper analysis for institutional investors, lenders, developers, and advisory firms. Build a strong regional source network, interview senior decision-makers, and attend key industry events while developing a focused niche across sectors like energy transition, PPPs, transport, digital infrastructure, and water/social assets.

Key Responsibilities

•Produce a consistent pipeline of exclusive articles and analysis on infrastructure finance transactions and investment trends across Australia and APAC.
•Break news on project finance deals, M&A processes, debt/equity fundraising, and secondary market activity ahead of public announcements.
•Build and maintain a strong regional network of sources, including project developers and sponsors, infrastructure and pension funds, banks/private credit investors, government stakeholders, and advisors.
•Interview senior decision-makers, including C-suite executives, fund managers, and originators.
•Attend key industry conferences, investor days, and market events across Australia and Asia-Pacific while delivering timely, accurate reporting and forward-looking insight on policy and regulatory developments.

Travel: Medium travel

Key Requirements

•Proven experience in financial journalism, ideally covering infrastructure finance, energy, or project finance markets.
•Track record of breaking exclusive stories and developing proprietary angles.
•Established network of sources across Australian and/or APAC infrastructure markets.
•Strong understanding of project finance and PPP structures, plus debt and equity capital markets, and the Australian infrastructure policy and regulatory environment.
•Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to work independently and proactively source stories, including willingness to travel across Australia and APAC for key events.
