Job Summary

Lead the technical design for Liveable Places and urban realm projects, focusing on highways, active travel, and public realm schemes. Based in Reading with hybrid working, you’ll develop pre-design and detailed designs, act as technical lead/checker to ensure compliance with UK standards and CDM requirements, coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs, and mentor junior staff while partnering with clients and delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead pre-design development and detailed design for Liveable Places and urban realm projects
•Act as technical lead and checker, ensuring compliance with UK standards, CDM compliance, and best practice
•Coordinate highways, drainage, transportation, and public realm designs, managing multidisciplinary disciplines such as structures, environment & geology
•Balance hands-on technical work with project management, design leadership, assurance, and mentoring
•Support junior staff through technical leadership and mentoring

•Chartered or near Chartered Civil Engineer
•Strong experience in UK highways and Liveable Places detailed design
•Experience in highway design and supporting packages
