Job Summary

Build, implement, and continuously enhance ByteDance’s export control and trade compliance program for global markets. Own risk-based governance and compliance operations including restricted party screening, end-user due diligence, recordkeeping, training, monitoring, and audit readiness. Develop cross-border and technology transfer processes covering cloud/IaaS access and advanced computing infrastructure, partner cross-functionally to embed controls into workflows, and manage export control risk across supply chain and vendor onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

•Support the build-up, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the export control and trade compliance program, including policies, procedures, governance, controls, and internal guidance.
•Design and manage compliance operations for restricted party screening, end-user due diligence, recordkeeping, training, monitoring, and audit readiness, including escalation and case management.
•Develop and maintain compliance processes for cross-border activities, technology transfers, customer and vendor onboarding, cloud/IaaS access, and advanced computing infrastructure, including transaction review workflows and documentation standards.
•Partner with cross-functional teams to embed export control requirements into workflows and provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance during product and feature reviews.
•Assess and manage export control risks across the supply chain, including ECCN classification, Foreign Direct Product rules, and vendor compliance obligations, and integrate checkpoints into procurement/onboarding workflows.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree or above in international trade, law, compliance, public policy, engineering, or a related field.
•Extensive experience in export controls and trade compliance, including compliance operations and due diligence.
•Strong knowledge of U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the EAR, restricted party screening, licensing fundamentals, and governance.
•Experience building, implementing, or enhancing compliance programs and operational controls in multinational/cross-border environments.
•Experience managing core compliance processes such as screening, end-user due diligence, recordkeeping, training, monitoring, escalations, and audit support.
