Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as liaison for a tunneling design unit (DU) within the contractor’s design-build team.
  • •Oversee development of tunnel lining, precast concrete manufacturing, TBM laydown, muck disposal, and tunneling work plans.
  • •Coordinate with contractor teams and external stakeholders (e.g., BART, Caltrans, Caltrain, UPRR, City of Santa Clara) and integrate with DU managers.
  • •Track design development progress, focus on requirements and interface issues, and manage right-of-way and environmental considerations.
  • •Coordinate RFIs and external design submittal reviews, participate in VTA design reviews, and report DU issues to CP2 management at a program level.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • •5+ years of relevant post-education experience with geotechnical design.
  • •California PE is strongly preferred.
  • •Experience leading design of large-diameter tunnel linings and planning tunneling projects in urban areas.
  • •Experience with stakeholder coordination on major tunneling projects (e.g., BART, Caltrans, Caltrain, UPRR, City of Santa Clara).
