Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the storage fleet as a power plant, including architecture, sizing, controls, safety case, and grid-forming behavior for ride-through and contingencies.
  • •Own BESS architecture details such as pack-to-MV-transformer grouping, medium-voltage topology, string-level protection, and physical block layout per NFPA 855.
  • •Translate compute duty cycles into power and energy requirements through sizing based on actual-versus-nameplate utilization and ramps.
  • •Define inverter control strategy (grid-forming vs grid-following, droop, virtual inertia, fault-current contribution, ride-through) and coordinate with governors/excitation.
  • •Develop and own EMS/controller specifications (dispatch, state-of-charge management, peak shaving, reserve emulation, islanding, black-start participation).

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.
  • •8+ years in power systems engineering.
  • •4+ years directly on utility-scale or large commercial and industrial battery energy storage.
  • •Hands-on capability across environments (heat, cold, rain) and willingness to work extended hours/weekends as needed.
  • •Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support and lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
