Job Summary

Estimate construction materials, equipment, and labor hours using past cost history and project specifications, then build project budgets for Management. Maintain working estimate files and supplier price data, prepare bid reports and information packets, and communicate awarded-bid details to field personnel. Review design options to recommend cost- and quality-effective solutions. Assist the Estimating Manager with coordinating DOT, Federal Highway, and municipality work, while following company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare detailed estimates by completing takeoff, using past cost history, and consulting field personnel.
•Maintain backup estimate documentation, including up-to-date supplier pricing from direct contact, sales brochures, and price lists.
•Prepare detailed bid reports and information packets, and communicate bid aspects to field personnel for awarded bids.
•Review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
•Follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safety and environmental compliance; report issues and assist with DOT/Federal Highway/municipality coordination.

Key Requirements

•Engineering degree or equivalent technical training and/or experience.
•3–7 years of construction experience with DOT, Federal Highway, and city/state municipalities.
•3–7 years of construction estimating experience and 3–7 years of construction management experience.
•Experience with estimating software (including B2W and takeoff software) and proficiency with estimating/bidding software.
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts; strong verbal and written communication.
