Job Summary

Work in Dyson’s New Product Innovation (NPI) organization to invent, develop, and mature disruptive technologies and product architectures for future consumer categories. Collaborate with multidisciplinary Research, Design, and Development teams to translate requirements into engineering solutions, build functional prototypes and test rigs, run experimental programs, and perform engineering analysis and root-cause investigations. Produce technical documentation and support concept maturation across the innovation pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

•Generate, evaluate, and develop innovative product concepts, technologies, and system architectures that deliver step-change performance.
•Translate consumer, technical, and commercial requirements into engineering solutions using experimentation and iterative design.
•Design, engineer, and build functional prototypes, demonstrators, and test rigs to evaluate feasibility, performance, and technical risk.
•Develop subsystems, mechanisms, and product features using sound engineering principles, analysis, and validation.
•Plan and execute experimental test programmes, interpret data-driven insights, and perform engineering analysis and root-cause investigations to improve products and technology.

Key Requirements

•Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
•Strong engineering fundamentals and first-principles thinking to solve complex technical challenges.
•Hands-on experience designing, building, and evaluating prototypes, mechanisms, electromechanical systems, or consumer products.
•Experience with iterative engineering processes including concept generation, prototyping, testing, data analysis, and design refinement.
•Proficiency in 3D CAD design and creating engineering drawings, assemblies, and prototype components.
