Job Summary

Perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light-to-follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a mobile/field environment. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, road test vehicles, document findings on repair orders using a company iOS device and TRAIT app, and manage parts inventory on a service truck. Work independently, follow safety and environmental regulations, and provide excellent customer communication.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems, including components such as engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and cooling/brake/electrical systems.
•Inspect, test, and road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
•Manage parts inventory and equipment on a company-issued service truck, including maintaining vehicle readiness and safety checks.
•Document work and findings on repair orders by uploading pictures using a company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application, and complete DOT forms and other required documentation.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination such as 5 years’ experience).
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen months.
•Pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and a DOT physical, including maintaining a current and valid DOT medical card with required remaining validity.
•Be at least 21 years or older and hold a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
