Key Responsibilities

  • •Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures
  • •Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes
  • •Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes
  • •Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times
  • •Attends Divisional meetings as required
  • •Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate
  • •Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief
  • •Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty
  • •Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and assumes responsibility for the care they provide
  • •Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
  • •Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
  • •Leads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis
  • •Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion
  • •Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
  • •Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
  • •Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
  • •Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
  • •Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
  • •Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies
  • •Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frame

Key Requirements

  • •Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialization in Critical Care/ ICU
  • •American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, any Western Board, Fellowship or additional certification in Critical Care/ ICU
  • •Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience in Critical Care/ ICU
  • •Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) License or eligibility to get one.
  • •Experience working within JCI-accredited hospitals is preferred.
