Job Summary

Oversee the design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of automation systems across molecular diagnostics labs and production facilities supporting oncology operations. Lead and schedule a team of automation service engineers across AM/PM coverage, troubleshoot equipment, and run root-cause analysis. Manage integrations of new automated systems, optimize processes with operations/R&D/production teams, coordinate with vendors, and ensure compliance and safety while reporting KPI performance.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead, mentor, and manage a team of automation service engineers and associates, including scheduling coverage for AM and PM shifts.
•Ensure automated equipment runs optimally through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and root-cause analysis on lab instruments.
•Oversee design, installation, and integration of new automated systems, including installation, operational, and process qualifications as needed.
•Partner with operations, R&D, and production to identify automation opportunities for efficiency, quality, and throughput; collaborate with Quality Control on documentation and regulatory requirements.
•Manage vendor relationships and oversee automation service budgets, inventory, compliance, and safety while reporting KPI performance to senior management.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in engineering/automation (Master’s preferred) or a BS in a scientific discipline.
•Proven experience as an Lab Automation Engineering Manager (or similar leadership) in manufacturing or diagnostics.
•4+ years operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, preferably high-throughput molecular biology equipment such as liquid handlers.
•Extensive knowledge of automation systems including robotics, PLCs, sensors, and control systems with hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
•Familiarity with compliance and safety standards in regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO) and experience in CLIA or similar environments is preferred.
