Job Summary

Senior Electrical Engineer leading energy storage-focused projects in the UK, delivering FEED, detailed design, and design assurance for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with renewable generation, grid connections, and private networks. Job Function: Hardware, Embedded & Systems Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Lead Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and design for planning, feasibility studies of energy storage systems including associated grid connections and metering.
•Design energy storage projects for renewable generation or private wire, including BESS collocated with renewables.
•Collaborate with internal AECOM clients to deliver large renewable generation or private wire projects.
•Provide support and exposure to bidding, project and quality management.
•Lead a team of engineers and contribute to project delivery across multiple projects.

Key Requirements

•Previous experience in consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector. Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer role.
•A good understanding of both renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries.
•Experience designing the HV grid connection, metering, control requirements etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation.
•Knowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G59, G99 etc.
•Good understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control.
