Key Responsibilities

  • •Implement a comprehensive school counseling program to promote student success across academic, social-emotional, and career/postsecondary readiness needs.
  • •Help students plan postsecondary options, apply academic strategies, manage emotions, and use interpersonal skills.
  • •Meet quarterly with students on caseload to review graduation plans and post-secondary options, including goal setting and academic planning.
  • •Review transcripts and academic documentation, support course placement and recommendations (including AP), and collaborate on four-year graduation plan development.
  • •Analyze student data to develop data-driven intervention action plans and provide short-term counseling and referrals as needed; support standardized testing and parent/staff education and development.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement.
  • •Michigan School Counselor Certification/School Counselor License is required.
  • •Ability to clear required background check.
  • •Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database systems.
  • •Master’s degree in school counseling (listed as an Other Required Qualification) along with advanced coursework in counseling and administration.
