Job Summary

Lead FPGA design and integration for defense-grade electronics in the ESP department, developing FPGA solutions across major vendors (AMD, Altera, Microchip) for gigabit interfaces, RF/EO DSP, and embedded processing. Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software teams from requirements through production, delivering verified, maintainable FPGA releases for DoD missions in an onsite Huntsville environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept up to production
•Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineers to ensure product success
•May lead FPGA-based systems architecture and determine parts and interfaces
•Design and code in VHDL for reliability, maintainability, reviewability, and reusability
•Verify designs using self-checking techniques with directed and constrained random tests, tracking functional and code coverage

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years of relevant experience
•Experience architecting FPGA-based systems to determine parts and interfaces
•Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in at least 6 of the listed FPGA categories (digital design, HDL, FPGA solutions, vendor tools)
•Hands-on experience with integration and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.
•Experience with FPGA timing constraints and timing closure; digital simulation tools (Questa, RivieraPro) and common interfaces (AXI, PCIe, SPI, I2C); programming in Python or C; IP Core usage
