Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage a docket of active litigation and arbitration matters end-to-end, including strategy, coordination with outside counsel, and keeping matters moving under the Head of Litigation.
  • •Analyze demand letters and state AG complaints and draft clear, consistent responses, using technology to improve efficiency.
  • •Own the IP/DMCA takedown workflow and scale the process as Whatnot grows in coordination with Trust & Risk teams.
  • •Manage the legal hold process, including drafting legal holds, tracking, and coordinating internal execution.
  • •Serve as real-time legal advisor to Trust & Risk and Customer Support on account enforcement decisions, documentation, and user communications, and investigate fraud concerns as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •J.D. degree and active bar membership in at least one US state.
  • •5+ years of litigation experience, with prior in-house experience owning a high-volume docket strongly preferred.
  • •Fluency in trust, safety, and risk operations, including experience with platform enforcement actions and understanding downstream legal exposure.
  • •Consumer dispute expertise handling high-volume consumer-facing disputes; platform liability knowledge (Section 230) and IP/DMCA experience are a plus.
  • •Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor external communications for employees, executives, regulators, and courts.
