Job Summary

Shape Northern Trust’s enterprise data strategy as a senior information architect within the Information Architecture team. Provide design authority and governance across conceptual, logical, and physical data models, semantic layers, and lineage. Partner with engineering and domain teams to standardize canonical entities and deliver data products across Snowflake and Databricks, including AI-assisted and agentic AI capabilities, with a focus on quality, security, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide design authority and governance for data architecture across conceptual, logical, and physical models across the firm’s data platforms.
•Maintain the enterprise data model library in SqlDBM, enforcing naming conventions, domain standards, and versioning.
•Define and steward canonical data entities and lineage across source, integration, and consumption layers.
•Design data product schemas across Snowflake and Databricks, including Delta Lake structures, and enforce architectural guardrails for performance, scalability, security, and cost.
•Act as a design authority for data architecture, present decisions to senior stakeholders and review boards, and mentor junior architects and engineers.

Key Requirements

•Proven experience in data architecture, data engineering, or information management, with enterprise data modelling across conceptual, logical, and physical levels.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
•Hands-on SqlDBM experience (or equivalent modern toolset) and proven dbt Labs experience.
•Good Python skills plus API integration and automation experience.
•Practical experience with Snowflake and Databricks, including Cortex AI and Genie, and working knowledge of OWL, RDF, and SPARQL/enterprise ontology design.
