Job Summary

Assistant Engineer to join the Roads team in Guildford, supporting the design and delivery of highway projects. You will prepare designs and specifications, develop Civil 3D/AutoCAD models, and collaborate with Senior Engineers and project teams on active travel, maintenance, and highway infrastructure schemes across local authority and national clients.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare designs and specifications in accordance with the Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB) and project requirements.
•Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing smaller schemes and provide support to Senior Engineers and graduates.
•Develop designs using Civil3D and AutoCAD (OpenRoads/Bentley experience welcomed).
•Undertake site visits to inform designs and inform project delivery with attention to health and safety compliance.
•Collaborate with project teams, Local Authority clients, and other stakeholders to deliver active travel, maintenance, and highway improvement schemes.

Key Requirements

•A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Bachelor's degree)
•Experience with highway design tools such as Civil3D and AutoCAD (and Bentley OpenRoads or similar)
•Ability to prepare designs and specifications in accordance with relevant design standards
•Willingness to contribute to design and cost estimation activities and support graduates/engineers across projects
•Proactive site visits and collaboration with project teams to inform designs and ensure compliance with health and safety standards
