Key Responsibilities

  • •Adhere to safety, health, and environmental practices and requirements, including holding required legal appointments and acting as legal appointee when needed.
  • •Plan borehole positions, execute drilling, maintain geological logs, capture geo-data, and ensure compliance with standards and procedures for core/final depth blocks management, surveying, and chip samples.
  • •Verify and validate drill hole data, sampling/numbering per QA/QC protocols, analytical data integrity, and alignment between geological descriptions and analytical results.
  • •Update and validate geo-data in relevant storage and modelling software and geological database, using an updated geological model to identify further exploration areas by position and depth.
  • •Supervise drilling contractors, coordinate daily drilling information, verify drilling metres for monthly invoices, compile reporting summaries, and allocate/train direct reports while managing section expenditure within the approved budget.

Key Requirements

  • •Hold a relevant geology qualification (Diploma in Geology NQF6; B.Sc. in Geology NQF7 is preferred) or an advanced geology certificate.
  • •3-5 years of operational knowledge in geology within an exploration environment.
  • •Demonstrate knowledge of geoscience methodologies and integrating geoscientific information to drive project and operational success.
  • •Proactively nurture relationships with cross-functional teams involved in exploration, projects, and mining operations.
  • •Recommended familiarity with supervisory functions and awareness of exploration pressures and working culture.
