Job Summary

Lead the Overhead Line (OHL) design function and act as the technical authority for transmission design across the UK&I portfolio. Provide safe, compliant, high-quality engineering support throughout concept, FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning. Set technical standards and approve design deliverables, drive governance, quality, and risk management, support tendering, and mentor a team of engineers while engaging effectively with clients, regulators, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and develop the OHL design function and define technical standards, best practices, and long-term capability needs.
•Act as technical authority for OHL design, setting direction for Basic and Detailed design packages and approving deliverables.
•Provide technical oversight across project phases from concept and FEED through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
•Drive consistency, quality assurance, safety-by-design, compliance, and risk management across design packages.
•Build, lead, and mentor the OHL design team, supporting resource planning and engaging with clients, regulators, and partners.

Key Requirements

•Senior-level experience in OHL design and leadership within UK Transmission sectors.
•Strong expertise in OHL engineering transmission and/or distribution line design, particularly 132–400kV.
•Strong expertise in PLS CADD and tower design software, with exposure to Auto CAD and drawing packages.
•In-depth understanding of UK utility technical standards, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks.
•Minimum BEng in Electrical Engineering, with Chartered Engineer (CEng, IET) or working towards chartership.
