Job Summary

Lead the design and implementation of large-scale, production-grade distributed systems powering AI features used by millions. Own architecture decisions, drive flexibility and robustness, and manage technical debt across the AI Products estate. Partner with Applied Scientists to productionize ML/LLM capabilities safely and reliably, while mentoring junior engineers and raising the engineering capability of the team. Build scalable infrastructure and deploy on AWS and Kubernetes.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and implement large-scale, production-grade distributed systems that power AI features.
•Own system architecture decisions and direct distributed systems strategy across the AI Products estate.
•Manage technical debt while improving the reliability, cost-effectiveness, and robustness of production systems.
•Partner with Applied Scientists to transition ML/LLM research work into reliable production-grade interfaces and systems.
•Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical capability and engineering standards of the AI Products team.

Key Requirements

•5+ years building and operating production services with Python (or equivalent), with strong system design and coding proficiency.
•Own services/pipelines in production, including operational/on-call responsibility, incident response, and managing technical debt over time.
•Deep understanding of distributed processing (e.g., Spark, Dask) and strong SQL capabilities.
•Demonstrated experience integrating ML models or LLM-based features into production systems, working effectively alongside Applied Scientists.
•Strong communication skills and a coaching mindset, including mentoring engineers and setting engineering standards.
