Develop and maintain Linux kernel components in Arista’s EOS, keeping pace with upstream Linux and integrating new kernel versions. Key Responsibilities

•Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify features relevant to Arista products and internal needs.
•Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests, including building automated test infrastructure, and contribute functional and design specifications.
•Qualify kernel-dependent hardware components such as CPUs and NICs with hardware engineers and vendors for integration into Arista products.
•Contribute kernel changes back to the mainline and help integrate new kernel versions for use in EOS and internal development.
•Analyze and fix customer network issues with customer support, address problems found by system test engineers, and mentor new and junior engineers.

Key Requirements

•BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 3 years experience, or MS with 2 years, or Ph.D. with 1 year, or equivalent work experience.
•Expert, extensive programming experience in C; knowledge of C++ and Python is desirable.
•Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel.
•Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation, and with the upstream kernel patching process.
•Familiarity with IP networking architecture and the x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
