Key Responsibilities

  • •Track upstream Linux kernel developments and identify features relevant to Arista products and internal needs.
  • •Develop and maintain EOS kernel features and tests, including building automated test infrastructure, and contribute functional and design specifications.
  • •Qualify kernel-dependent hardware components such as CPUs and NICs with hardware engineers and vendors for integration into Arista products.
  • •Contribute kernel changes back to the mainline and help integrate new kernel versions for use in EOS and internal development.
  • •Analyze and fix customer network issues with customer support, address problems found by system test engineers, and mentor new and junior engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 3 years experience, or MS with 2 years, or Ph.D. with 1 year, or equivalent work experience.
  • •Expert, extensive programming experience in C; knowledge of C++ and Python is desirable.
  • •Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues, fixing bugs, and developing features in the Linux kernel.
  • •Familiarity with Linux kernel architecture, design, and implementation, and with the upstream kernel patching process.
  • •Familiarity with IP networking architecture and the x86 and ARM CPU architectures.
