Key Responsibilities

•Recognize safety hazards and follow safety guidelines to protect yourself, coworkers, and the public.
•Apply environmental rules and regulations to work situations.
•Install, maintain, test, inspect, and repair generating station equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
•Replace parts used in plant equipment such as bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, and seats.
•Perform safety related duties including accepting work authorizations and handling hot work and confined space entry permits.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED.
•2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance/repair/inspection and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment, or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating, and diagnostics.
•Valid State Driver’s License.
•Receive a “recommended” rating on the NRG Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test.
•Ability to use hand tools and shop tools used in maintenance work.
