Key Responsibilities

  • •Recognize safety hazards and follow safety guidelines to protect yourself, coworkers, and the public.
  • •Apply environmental rules and regulations to work situations.
  • •Install, maintain, test, inspect, and repair generating station equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • •Replace parts used in plant equipment such as bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, and seats.
  • •Perform safety related duties including accepting work authorizations and handling hot work and confined space entry permits.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED.
  • •2 years of military experience in mechanical maintenance/repair/inspection and/or maintenance of pumps, turbines, auxiliary equipment, or engines OR machine shop equipment experience including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating, and diagnostics.
  • •Valid State Driver’s License.
  • •Receive a “recommended” rating on the NRG Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test.
  • •Ability to use hand tools and shop tools used in maintenance work.
