Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as a technical lead performing traction power project work for electrified railways, including design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies.
  • •Prepare and guide engineers/drafters/designers on one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, cable sizing/routing, substation layouts, equipment selection, substation equipment specifications, scheduling, test plans, field tests, reports, analysis, and studies.
  • •Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies for traction power systems.
  • •Recommend engineering actions to ensure compliance with client, local, state, and federal regulations and standards including AREMA railway standards, NFPA 70, IEEE C2, and other applicable US standards.
  • •Conduct site investigations and walk-downs in high-voltage substations and along electrified railroads, with willingness/ability to travel nationally when needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) plus 6 years of traction power design experience for 750 V DC third rail and overhead distribution systems (12 kV AC, 25 Hz; 2 x 12.5 kV AC; 2 x 25 kV, 60 Hz), or equivalent.
  • •Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • •Experience with traction power AC/DC and high-/low-voltage systems including relaying, rectifier, distribution, and SCADA equipment.
  • •Experience leading traction power design calculations, plans development, specifications, and technical report writing.
  • •Knowledge and experience with AREMA and IEEE standards for traction power design.
