Key Responsibilities

  • •Contact policyholders about property claims, conduct investigations (including interviews and inspections), and prepare estimates within designated authority.
  • •Evaluate claim information to determine coverage and total value, set and maintain reserves, and determine payments (issue checks or decline payment as required).
  • •Document claim files and submit final reports for closure.
  • •Identify and initiate subrogation actions; service assigned territory and bring claims to conclusion.
  • •May handle litigated claims and coordinate litigation with defense counsel as required, plus participate on Catastrophe Team when required.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent for Property Adjuster Trainee; Property Adjuster I requires a high school/GED plus two years of claims handling experience or equivalent.
  • •Property Adjuster II requires five years of claims handling experience (or bachelor’s degree plus two years).
  • •Willingness to pursue and complete ERIE’s Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire.
  • •Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses; valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
