Job Summary

The Senior Technical Accountant will own Mixpanel’s most technically complex accounting workstreams, including revenue recognition, equity accounting, and consolidated financial reporting. You’ll partner with FP&A, Legal, and external auditors, maintain ASC 606 expertise, and drive SOX readiness while evolving the technical accounting function as the company scales, leveraging AI to accelerate research and close processes.

Key Responsibilities

•Own the monthly revenue close, including flux analysis, deferred revenue review, renewals reconciliation, and reconciliation between internal systems.
•Research and document accounting positions for complex, non-routine transactions, including contract modifications, variable consideration, new product offerings, and warrant-related entries.
•Prepare and review stock-based compensation accounting on a quarterly basis, including journal entries, disclosures, and variance analysis.
•Prepare group financial statements, including consolidation and entity-level reporting required for lender compliance.
•Draft, maintain, and evolve the ASC 606 revenue recognition policy memo and related revenue playbook, keeping both current with business and product changes.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
•4+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on technical accounting work
•Big 4 or public accounting audit background
•Deep knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, SSP analysis, and contract modifications
•Experience with stock-based compensation accounting (ASC 718) and equity administration workflows
